Using trim during maneuvers reduces the pilot’s workload by taking the continuous forces off the control surfaces and holding the aircraft in the desired attitude with less input. When you trim, you set a small deflection of the elevator (for pitch), and/or ailerons and rudder (for roll and yaw) so the airplane maintains its pitch or bank without you having to keep constant pressure on the controls. This lets you maintain a precise, smooth maneuver, reduces fatigue, and prevents overcorrecting due to fatigue or creeping airloads. Trim doesn’t add power, change the bank angle by itself, or require more input—quite the opposite: it makes maintaining the maneuver easier by reducing the need for continuous control input.
